Jennifer Lawrence exudes dark vintage glamor in a Christian Lacroix dress that accentuates her baby bump at the premiere of Bread and Roses

Jennifer Lawrence took inspiration from retro runway fashion for her latest red carpet look, tapping into the dark glamor trend at the premiere of the documentary Bread & Roses, which she co-produced with Malala Yousafzai.

For the occasion, Lawrence wore a flowing black Christian Lacroix dress that was originally featured in the Fall 2006 collection. The dress featured a shift silhouette with off-the-shoulder sleeves.

The floor-length dress also featured a sweetheart neckline with a jeweled embroidered detail at the center of the bust line. The actress, who is expecting her second child with husband Cooke Maroney, opted to keep her accessories to a minimum, favoring simple stud earrings and cuffs, as well as a few rings.

Lawrence’s blonde hair was styled by Gregory Russell in a sleek, sleek look with a side part. Her makeup, which includes smokey eyes, bold brows, and a soft, nude lip, was done by artist Georgie Eisdell. Her look was curated by stylist Jamie Mizrahi, known for her work with Anora breakout stars Mikey Madison, Adele and Riley Keough, among others.

For Lawrence’s look, Mizrahi consulted vintage expert and archivist Cherie Balch. Balch took cues from Lacroix’s fall 2006 collection to create a style that emphasized Lawrence’s baby bump and combined the trendy dark-glam aesthetic with a retro vibe.

The dark glamor look was popular on red carpets throughout 2024. Stars like Demi Moore, Nicole Kidman and Zoe Saldaña wore iterations of the trend on various occasions. Thanks to her methodical way of dressing, Cynthia Erivo has also embraced the dark glamor trend as a nod to her Wicked character Elphaba.

“Bread & Roses” follows the lives of women in Afghanistan under the rule of the Taliban and their control of Kabul. The film premieres on Apple TV+ on November 22nd.
