Elle Fanning put an edgy twist on the little black dress for Variety’s Hamilton Behind the Camera Awards in Los Angeles on Thursday. She was joined by A-list stars like The Last Showgirl’s Pamela Anderson, Kristen Wiig and more.
For the red carpet, Fanning chose a contemporary look from Dior. The dress featured a deep V-neckline, a backless silhouette, side cutouts and a full midi skirt. Fanning’s look was enhanced by long leather sleeves that extended to gloves and subtle gold buttons at the hip. She accessorized with a sparkly necklace and black pointed heels.

For her glamour, Fanning maintained her classic aesthetic. Her blonde hair, styled by Jenda Alcorn, had a subtle wave and a side part. Her makeup by Erin Ayanian Monroe included bold brows, black eyeliner, rosy cheeks and a bold red lip. Fanning’s look was curated by stylist Samantha McMillen, who has also worked with Daisy Ridley, Brie Larson and Dakota Fanning, among others.
New versions of a classic and a little black dress were seen several times on the red carpet in 2024. Last September, Lily Collins opted for an asymmetrical take on the style while appearing on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. The “Emily in Paris” star wore a black dress from Versace’s Resort 2025 collection.
Halle Berry, Brooks Nader and Morgan Riddle have also put a modern twist on the little black dress, using sheer material, latex and more to add a modern twist to the wardrobe staple.
The 2024 Hamilton Behind the Camera Awards, presented by Variety, honors the behind-the-scenes artists who contributed to the biggest films of the year. Honorees included Julia Floch-Carbonel, Simon Livet and Romain Marietti – the hair and makeup team behind “Emilia Perez,” Joe Walker for editing “Dune: Part Two” and more.
